The TEMS (Tactical Emergency Medical Support) team is the premier Tactical Medical team in Southern Nevada. The team consists of commissioned police officers and volunteers doctors, paramedics, nurses, and physicians assistants. The team provides 24/7 assistance to LVMPD SWAT as their tactical medics on all critical incidents, high risk search warrants and hostage rescue situations.
TEMS was founded in 1992 and is run by the LVMPD Search and Rescue team. The commissioned officers and volunteers provide operational medicine during these incidents to any injured operator or subjects involved in the incident.

New TEMS candidates are selected from highly skilled medical providers in the community. The team seeks highly motivated physicans who want to give their time to helping on the critical incidents tactical medics and tactical volunteers respond to with the LVMPD SWAT Team. While the preferred candidate will be a physician, exceptions are made for physicians assistants, nurses and paramedics based on the candidates experience.

Our team members are committed to the mission of saving lives during these critical incidents. Tactical operations occur at any given time and any day thus requiring volunteers to be available for a rotating call out calendar for team coverage. Prospective candidates will be required to submit to a thorough background check and upon successful completion will enter into a selection, assessment and training program going over all of the basics of tactical medicine.
